Equipment: Being a personal rower myself for my high school, Ive
never see a full out rowing game. The only one Ive seen is that mario
one that u only use your arms for (which rowing is a lot more intensive
than that). Using the Wii bored for wii fit,
the bored could be put on an angled platform that could go on the floor
that would have a compact slide sytem that could use different
resistant(interchangeable)bands for novice to experienced rowers. this
would let you sit on a seat set up too be slightly higher than the wii bored to recreate a ERG rowing machine (what we use for practice, look up Concept 2 ERG) The wii controller would be used for the handle for your ore. something could be made to snap the wii mote into itself (like that wii
steering wheel) that could be like an ore handle. this extension could
then have a rope or string or whatever to that could connect to a
system that would be some sort of resistance for the handle (again
interchangeable) and thus we have a Wii ERG.
Game-play: at first You could be weighed for your personally fitted
rowing class(light weight-mid-weight-heavy weight) where you are then
set out to go out into a lake (with beutifull scenery of course) and
have a coach teaching you technique for rowing successfully. The coach
would be at first teaching SWEEPING(which is ONE ore rowing for a team
boat) this includes many physics to be considered with how hard it is
to balance one of these boats (but of course it would be easier and
then get hard as you become experienced). For SCULLING(Two ore rowing
for one person) could be achieved through either Two wiimotes(for more
experianced) or just your single controller. When your in a race or
practice you will have your meters to the side measuring Technique,
Tiredness, Power, And Crab possibility (haha a crab is where you are
thrown out of the boat by your ore being sucked under the boat because
of bad technique and laziness). Power will be measured while you rowing
through the WII bored/ Wii
Erg assembly. races could be be 1500meters(usual races) or cross
country (very long and intensive with endurance). NOW on top of all
this you will have a stratigic game play through being a COXSWAIN ,
these guys are the "brains of the brawn" steering the boat, telling the
stroke seat(the rower in front of the rest of the team and controlling
stroke rate) technique issue or stroke rate reminders. And most
important of all are Powers of say 10 , 15 or 20. which are like the
rowers way of speeding the boat up with 10 or so of their stongest
strokes. but you have to consider the tirednessss of your team and
where you are in a race (a map would be shown) and markers will mark
every 500 meters. Having maps of the most popular rivers and race areas
would make the game more exiting and more realistic. also, of course,
you can use you MII for game play
racing Shell (the boat) could be customize
If you want further pictures of these concepts im good at AAuto Cad so ill just do screen s
